First premiering in January of 1964, The Magilla Gorilla Show
follows the antics of a gorilla named Magilla as he sits in the window of Mr. Peebles’ pet store, waiting for someone to buy come and buy him and be taken home.
However, much to Mr. Peebles’ displeasure the only people who are ever interested in the gorilla are either bad guys needing help in breaking the law or Ogee, the little girl whose parents won’t let her have Magilla as a pet. The main reason why Mr. Peebles wants to sell Magilla is due to the continual financial drain the gorilla has on the store with his insatiable appetite for bananas.
Also featured in the show is a cat and mouse duo by the name of Punkin' Puss and Mushmouse, who enjoy spending their days feuding with one another in their mountain surroundings. Lastly, in their little part of the Wild West, Sheriff Ricochet Rabbit and his deputy Droop-Along Coyote work together to keep the bad guys out of their town.
