The New Yankee Workshop: Kitchen Project - The Wet Bar (8 of 9)

The final pieces Norm builds in his workshop are the cabinets for the bar. There is a base unit with a large drawer for bottle storage and a nice cherry top, and a wall unit with a mirrored back, true divided light cabinet doors and glass shelves. Here, he shows how to make them, including the complex process needed to produce the windowed doors. During construction, he also visits a bar built for another homeowner by the same cabinet shop that offered him tips early in the series.

Before starting construction, Norm revisits the site of the new kitchen. There he highlights a few of the challenges: the walls aren't perfectly square (flaring out 1/4” on one side and 1/8” on the other). That won't be a problem: there will be a base cabinet with a pair of doors and a pair of drawers, and an opening for a wine cooler. Norm will cut the stile on that side to compensate for the out of square wall...
