The Pretender

The Pretender

There are pretenders among us. Geniuses with the ability to be become anyone they want to be. In 1963 a corporation known as the Centre isolated a young pretender named Jarod and exploited his genius for their research. Then one day their pretender ran away...

The Pretender is the story of Jarod, a highly intelligent person who has the ability to become anything he wants to be. Kidnapped as a child, Jarod was kept by a think tank known as "The Centre." After his escape, Jarod tries to find out who he really is and what happened to his family, while helping normal people who have trouble appear in their lives. Assuming different identities and performing different careers, Jarod (Michael T. Weiss) outsmarts The Centre, including Miss Parker (Andrea Parker), Jarod's father-like figure Syndey (Patrick Bauchau), and Broots (Jon Gries). Along the way, The Centre's deepest secrets are revealed including some of the most complex story lines ever seen on television. Characters such as Mr. Parker, Mr. Lyle (Jamie Denton), Dr. Raines reveal Jarod's past, Jarod's family, the interworking of The Centre, Miss Parker's mother's death, and much more.

The Pretender was on NBC for four seasons and has been on reruns ever since on TNT. Two of the originally planned four TV movies continuing the series were shown on TNT but the others were never made. Pretender fans have continued to wait for the story to finally be pieced together. The status on additional movies are still up in the air as many of the stars have went on to other shows.

This is the best show maybe that I ever have seen. Even though it only lasted 4 seasons, plus 2 T.V. movies, it was worth every episode. The story lines from episode to episode work on each other to reveal mystery after mystery about Jarod, his family, and "the Centre". The writing in this series is supurb and I would recommend this show to anyone. The show has done of actions and remains exciting at all times. Read more
