Recap

The four survivors of a downed spacecraft find themselves stranded on an alien planet undergoing colonization. The planet suffers from torrential and continual downpours. Their commander, Trask, uses the homing unit, nicknamed Christopher, to plot a course to the nearest Sun Dome, eight miles away and placed by automated probes. At a mile an hour, they have eight hours to travel. As they start, one of the men, Simmons notices that the plants slowly move, trying to grab them...

Episode Notes
Based on the Ray Bradbury short story "The Long Rain" also known as "Death-by-Rain". This story was first published in Planet Stories (Summer, 1950).

Episode Quotes
Cooper: Are you sure we're going to find it, sir?
Commander Trask: I'm sure.
Lieutenant Simmons: Or are you lying to keep us happy?
Commander Trask: I'm lying to keep you happy. Shut up.

Analysis
Changes from the short story:

* The setting is moved from Venus to a planet outside the Solar System, accounting for the fact that the men can breathe. On Venus, that would be impossible.
* Only Simmons is named in the story. Trask and Cooper have no names in the story, and Boltz was named Pickard in the story.
* The episode features a brief dream sequence at the end, to some degree creating an omitted scene where the stranded men find a ruined Sun Dome exposed to the constant rain.
