The undeclared war between rival ranchers Roy and Jeb escalates as Jeb's son, Lenny, orders Sanchez, to kill the head of the Yellow Rose ranch. At the same time, Roy faces Jeb's daughter, Juliette, young editor of the San Antonio Morning Star, objecting to her editorial that criticizes large landowners from the special privileges they enjoy. Juliette offers Roy space in the paper for rebuttal but he doesn't accept. As he leaves the paper, he his attacked by two Mexican thugs. He was set up. As he faces a murderous attack by Sanchez, approaching police sirens force Sanchez to run.
