Season 1
Three's Company started on ABC in 1977 as the Americanized version to the hit Britcom Man About the House. While the show had many similarities to Man About the House, it also had many differences, including it's own original spark and American humor.

This season we meet our principal stars, John Ritter, the hotshot ladies man cooking school student, the beautiful level-headed brunette, Janet Wood, and the naive, bubbly blonde Chrissy Snow. Living in the apartment below is Stanley Roper, the conservative no-nonsense landlord and his perky, sex-starved wife, the sarcastic Helen Roper. This ensemble makes up the familar cast we know today when we think of the early years of Three's Company.

This season we don't get to see too much development of characters being that it only lasts six episodes, as well as the fact that the plotlines are all based off of Man About the House, when the next season comes, the writers had all original ideas and were allowed to develop the characters further.

Jack, this season, makes his debut in the girls life hungover in their bathtub after Eleanor's going away party. He also gets himself into trouble when he starts dating Mr. Roper's niece, even though Mr. Roper thinks Jack is gay. Jack also gets himself into trouble when he gets into a spat with a man who bullies the girls at the Regal Beagle.

Janet and Chrissy, this season, have to hide Jack from Chrissy's conservative mother when she visits and struggle to avoid the Roper's when they host a dog in the apartment against their lease, and when they can't fork over the rent one month.

The Roper's quirp at each other constantly, especially over the going-ons upstairs. Early on, Mrs. Roper learns Jack is actually straight, but she doesn't mind. Mr. Roper, however, can't know. Mr. Roper is ready to throw him out when he thinks there is something going on with Jack and his niece, and when Mr. Roper finds out the trio have a pet in the apartment, Mr. Roper finds another excuse to get them out of his hair.

Larry makes his debut this season, with only one appearance, being the one responsible for giving Jack the dog that almost gets the trio kicked out.

A very short season, indeed, but also a very important season. ABC show the show's potentional as it was allowed to grow and Americanize successfully. These six episodes would be the start of something great...
