Episode Notes
Robert Horton does not appear in this episode.

John McIntire and Bette Davis reportedly did not get along during the filming of this episode.

Episode Quotes
Hale: Find a good woman, you get much happiness. Find a bad one, you become a philosopher.

Wooster: There's only one thing wrong with bein' over 50.
Hawks: What's that, Charles?
Wooster: The people under 50.

Bettina: You can teach more with kindness than with the end of a stick.

Bettina: Arthur wouldn't go to Kingsville. That town is worse than Sodom and Gomorrah.

Bettina: Whatever a mother does, right or wrong, she does it because she loves her children more than herself.

Gene: (to Ginny) You keep crying for your mother and you will die!

Bettina: My children don't need me anymore. I've got to let them lead their own lives--and that's not an easy thing to do.

Episode Goofs
Nitpick: It's never made clear what happened to Arthur May after his drinking binge. I guess the audience is to assume that he returned to his wife and the wagon train.

Definitely the best of the three Bette Davis episodes. Too bad that all three were minus Robert Horton but I guess those were the breaks.
