When Kevin's car is found abandoned at The Gap - a notorious spot for suicides - the dive team is called upon to search for his body. While awaiting for any word on Kevin, Frank and Rachel keep busy by investigating the death of an animal smuggler whose body was pulled from the harbour with unusual abdominal wounds.
A group of young probationary officers visit the Water Police to see the way they operate, and the senior officers in Helen and Jeff pass their supervisory duties off onto one another.
The Water Rats book Frank's Story is based on what happened in Frank's life from this episode to the final episode of the season.
The pie cart Rachel and Frank go to in this episode (and a few more episodes throughout the series) is called Harry's Cafe de Wheels, and is located in the water-side suburb of Woolloomooloo.
Helen: He was big and strong, like wrestling a bloody tiger snake.
Frank: Hey, don't mention snakes to Rachel.
Helen: I believe it's a touchy subject.
Frank: Tell ya, times you want a camera.
(Rachel rolls her eyes)
Sergeant Thompson: Would you call yourselves close friends?
Rachel: No, not exactly. We did have a one night stand, I think that's what you'd call it.
Sergeant Thompson: I'd call that pretty close.
Rachel: But I haven't seen much of him since.
Sergeant Thompson: So after the termination of your affair, was he bitter... acrimonious? Was he upset about it?
Rachel: He didn't kill himself over me. Is that what you're asking?
Sergeant Thompson: So you had an affair with Kevin Holloway, and you work with his brother Frank? You're a pretty incestuous lot down here, aren't you?
(after a cassowary killed a man)
Frank: We found the killer and she's already behind bars.
Jeff: She? A woman did that?
Frank: A very mean-spirited female.
Jeff: Well, details Frank!
Frank: We're onto it Jeff. Rachel and I, we're just going to get something to eat, and we'll do the paperwork later.
Jeff: But it was definitely a woman?
Frank: Think more along the lines of a giant chook.
(over the radio)
Tommy: We found the body, Sarge.
Jeff: Kilo Hotel?
Tommy: Confirm. Kilo Hotel.
Radio operator: Sir, the probationers are here.
Clarke: The who?
Frank: Full fathom five... five... brother lives... of his bones are coral made. Ey, what's that from?
Rachel: Are you drunk, Frank?
Frank: Does it bother you?
