Nashville 2.0

Nashville 2.0

"Nashville 2.0" explores the vibrant Americana music scene, a genre the New York Times dubbed “the coolest music scene today”. Americana is roots-inspired music that draws inspiration from country, folk, bluegrass, R&B;, blues, roots rock, bluegrass, gospel, rockabilly, honky-tonk, alternative rock, folk rock, and punk.nashville-img2.jpg

The digital revolution has brought about new ways to deliver music to audiences. With services like Spotify and Pandora, and 165 channels on Sirius XM Satellite Radio, listeners are able to stroll through a universe of music using their smartphones. This gives musicians the opportunity to transcend traditional boundaries and put their own contemporary stamp on long-established genres. That is the essence of Americana music.

The Americana movement is very welcoming. Musicians of all ages and backgrounds are embraced, with the one caveat being that they make world class music. In this program, musicians, journalists, and music historians discuss the Americana phenomenon. Americana’s leading musicians give exclusive performances, from the great Emmylou Harris to The Carolina Chocolate Drops, Rosanne Cash to The Avett Brothers, The Mavericks, Jason Isbell, and many more.
