WATCH: El Rey's 'Matador' Trailer Promises Soccer, Action, and Alfred Molina

The young, up-and-coming El Rey Network has dropped the first trailer for their next anticipated series, ‘Matador,’ and it plays out as if something from a young network.

The graphics looks out of a '90s video game and the action seems closer to the erratic quality of ‘Mission: Impossible 3’ than it does the sleek and smooth ‘Star Trek.’ The trailer boasts that the writers and producers crafted those films, along with ‘Transformers,’ which may or may not be a good thing.

Still, trailers are hardly indicators of series, and this 30-seond fare offers little to go on. That said, the shot of a foot kicking a soccer ball and a leap through the air by our hero is pretty laughable. The trailer also features briefly perhaps the most notable actor of the ensemble cast in Alfred Molina, seen here wearing an ascot.

‘Matador’ is from showrunners Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie. They will executive producer alongside Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (writing partners of the aforementioned films, among many other blockbusters). The series stars Gabriel Luna as popular soccer player Antonio Bravo, nicknamed "Matador," who is in fact an undercover and highly-skilled C.I.A. operative.

The drama premieres on July 15, just two days after the 2014 World Cup final. The El Rey Network is headed by Robert Rodriguez, and sprouted up earlier this year looking to feature English-language television that appeals to Hispanic viewers. The first and only so far series was the televised adaptation of ‘From Dusk Till Dawn.’
