Reality Show Showdown - Who Won the first Head to Head of the Year - Strictly Come Dancing vs The X Factor
'Strictly Come Dancing' and 'The X Factor' went head to head for the first time this year last night, with both shows airing at 8pm. The 'Strictly' launch show which featured the reveal of this years professional pairings and the departure of presenter Bruce Forsyth won the ratings battle attracting 8.4 million viewers (a 33.7% share) on BBC One. On itv in the same slot 'The X Factor' auditions continued, attracting 7.8 million viewers (a 31.1% share).

There is not a head to head. Look at the calender, it's not the '60s, It's 2014. Everyone who watches TV has access to +1 channels and most have PVR/VCRs or some sort of recording device. Some know how to use a computer and use iplayer and its like. Believe it or not 'gasp' some TVs can even access these online catch-up services simply by pressing a button!! Anyone who wants to watch both can, with no effort at all. Please stop with these foolish 'head to head' battles. No one is voting yet and the windows allow for delayed viewing so no problems there. But hey, Bring on the stats which are just a guess anyway an do not reflect true viewing habits. Also ratings only matter to channels that show adverts. There is nothing to be gained by the BBC winning. They get paid even if nobody watches them.
