Damon Wayans Jr. Leaving 'New Girl'

Say goodbye to the classic Coach and Winston mess around!  Damon Wayans Jr., who plays Coach, will be exiting New Girl at the end of the season.

Wayans Jr. was in the pilot episode of the series, but left to star in ABC’s Happy Endings.  After the series was cancelled (I miss it everyday) he returned to New Girl first as a guest star, but quickly moved up to series regular in the fourth season.

Wayans expressed his appreciation in a statement:

“I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to come back to New Girl in season 3 to reprise the role of Coach.  Working with this incredibly talented and funny cast and crew has been one of the best experiences of my career.”

Don’t fret, Coach fans; executive producer Liz Meriwether is intent on bringing him back! Regarding his exit she said:

“We are working on crafting an exit for him that will leave the door open for many more returns…”

Soak up Coach’s charm while you still can, Tuesday nights at 9:00pm on Fox
