Expedition Unknown renewed for a third season

With the successful sophomore season of Expedition Unknown featuring explorer Josh Gates in full swing, Travel Channel has greenlit the series for a third season to air later this year.

Expedition Unknown follows Gates, who also serves as an executive producer, as he journeys around the world in search of answers to some of the world's most fascinating and iconic legends and stories.

"As one of the network's highest-rated programs, 'Expedition Unknown' has shaped a strong and successful Wednesday night for Travel Channel," said Courtney White, senior vice president, programming and production, Travel Channel. "Like Andrew Zimmern and Jack Maxwell, Josh Gates resonates with our fans - with over 5.4 million people tuning in each week to join him on his worldwide adventures. This season, we're upping the ante with bold, ambitious adventures and mission-driven storytelling - you can't help but get hooked."

The current season can be seen on Wednesday evenings at 9pm on the Travel Channel.
