"The Five" is on fire: FOX News program #1 at 5pm

FOX News' seemingly never-ending reign of dominance over cable news has begun to extend to cable TV as a whole. FNC was the #1 rated cable network for the month of April, and today brings the news that FOX's 5pm panel discussion program "The Five" has managed to become the #1 rated program in all of in cable for that timeslot. For the past seven days and counting, "The Five" soundly defeated the offerings on top cable channels like Nickelodeon, USA, and TNT.

In addition to those stats, "The Five" has been drawing more total viewers than Comedy Central heavyweights "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report" as well. Also, on both May 4th and 6th, "The Five" posted the best numbers of the entire cable day in the prized 25-54 demo. The seven day plus time period in question has been heavy with breaking news about various Washington scandals ending in the word gate, which no doubt contributed to the increased size of the cable news audience. Whether you're a FNC fan or detractor, you can't argue the fact that when big news is going down, most Americans turn to FOX. That doesn't seem likely to change anytime soon.

My wife and I never watch the same tv shows but there is one exception. At 5 o'clock we both drop whatever we are doing to watch "The Five". We even DVD it in case we are not home on time. The girls especially are super intelligent and knowledgeable and Gutfeld has an incredable wit coupled with great daily monologues. I'm even learning to live with Beckel on the show. Great job Fivers, you deserve it.

I DVR the Five every day. I think Dana Perino is the most intelligent political analyst on TV. My least favorite is Juan Williams who when gets snookered into a undefensable corner, just yells and screams over everyone else. I even like Bob Beckel a lot.

Hey "REALLY", there is a good reason the FIVE is #1, they are insightful, intelligent, funny, and thought provoking. I guess you never watched it. Gutfeld is a hoot, the women are smart in addition to pretty, Dana Perino had Jay Carneys job for Pres Bush (2) and would run circles around that tap dancing puppet.

I love the FIVE and I like Bob to give a opinion, but, sometimes he agrees with everyone else..rare, I like that Fox is not one sided, the mainstream media has only one side!

It's refreshing to hear more than one side of a story, which doesn't happen on the mainstream media and frequently not on PBS. I enjoy Bob being allowed to freely give his take on issues also. As I said, it's refreshing to hear both sides for a change.

Fox News hears with both ears and sees with both eyes - which allows us to see and hear the truth. I LOOK FORWARD TO THE GREAT ONE THROWING HIS SCUMMY MEDIA FOLLOWERS UNDER THE BUS AND IT WILL CERTAINLY HAPPEN AS WE ARE ALREADY SEEING IT BEGIN
Really?

Isn't it charming how FOX News sent all its little stooges over here to leave positive comments?

The Five has all the ingrediants to make it such a success; Good looks; Brains; Morals; Sense of Humor and strong convictions. Roger Ailes deserves mention too. He allows them the liberty to speak out about issues, weahter it's popular or not. Another point is "One More Thing", it allows the viewers to see a personal side them. Yayyyyy for The Five.
A Massachusetts fan.

Great job, Fivers (have trouble including Beckel in there, tho.) My early evening is built around the Five - dog gets walked, fed, etc. either before 5 p.m. or after 6; don't leave for grandkids' little league games until the Five is over; don't take telephone calls; don't even speak to my wife(well not really.) Keep up the good work!
