Primetime Ratings, Saturday, 2/8/14 & Sunday, 2/9/14

NBC dominated both Saturday and Sunday via a nearly unopposed weekend of the Winter Olympics.

Speaking of the Games, Saturday was the second official night of competition, and continued the clear downward trend that's been happening so far. The broadcast earned a 6.2 demo and brought in over 25 million total viewers. Unfortunately, that number is down almost two whole points from the 7.9 that the first Saturday of the 2010 Vancouver Games earned. The only other original program on Saturday was a new '48 Hours,' which fell slightly to a 0.7.

Thankfully for NBC, night three of competition (and night four of overall coverage) finally succeeded in topping its 2010 equivalent. Sunday's Olympic broadcast earned a 7.2 demo, and drew a total audience of over 26 million viewers. That number is up two tenths from the 7.0 garnered on the same night in 2010. It's not a big increase, but it's better than another large drop.

Elsewhere on Sunday, CBS aired 'The Beatles: The Night that Changed America: A Grammy Salute' head-to-head with the Olympics. The special scored a pretty decent 2.1 demo, and its total audience topped out at 14 million viewers. Finally, a new '60 Minutes' set a new season low of 1.1.

They've cancelled all of our shows for this so what do you expect... our choices are the olympics or junk like honey boo boo. Most people I know are re-watching old dvds.
