Starz Sets 'Power' Premiere Date, EP Curtis Jackson Drops Music Video

It’s a big day for the latest drama from Starz, as the series ‘Power’ received a music video, theme song, a new poster, and perhaps most important of all, a premiere date.

The New York-based crime drama comes in part from executive producer Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson, who naturally is also doing some of the music for the show. The music video for 50 Cent's "Big Town Rich" dropped today; it’s a single that was created specifically for the show and one that will serve as the main title theme.

'Power' will begin its eight-episode first season on Saturday, June 7 at 9/8c.

From creator and showrunner Courtney Kemp Agboh, ‘Power’ splits time between two very different worlds, one the glamorous NYC club scene, and the other the brutal drug trade. At the center of it all is James "Ghost" St. Patrick, an entrepreneur and business owner of sorts who runs an up-and-coming new nightclub and is also a drug kingpin.

Leading a double life is no easy task, but as he tries to leave the illicit underworld in favor of becoming an honest businessman, he puts in jeopardy his marriage, family, and career.

According to Jackson, the music to the show is a crucial component to not only help the viewer enter this world, but also to get a feel for the tone and style. You can watch the video here on Facebook and glimpse the new poster below.

Power is awesome.... After watching an episode, I can't wait for the next one to see what happens. Their are many plot twists that make the show riveting. I can't wait for season 2 to see what happens!! If Starz has a brain, they will renew Power.

Hoping this show is good. Starz seems to be unable to find an identity for themselves, and not willing to commit to a series (except Spartacus). Maybe 50 Cent's marketing magic will let this show survive.
