The Time Tunnel

The Time Tunnel

Congress has poured seven billion dollars into an ambitious hole in the ground. That hole houses Project Tic Toc, the apparatus and twelve thousand person support staff for the Time Tunnel, a project a decade in the making. Senator Clark visits the project to learn just what Congress has bought, and isn't pleased with the lack of progress. Daring engineer Tony Newman sees his life's work about to vanish into, well, history, so he determines to prove the concept in the most practical way: he sends himself back in time. But the team at Project Tic Toc cannot retrieve him, and so his mentor Professor Doug Phillips follows him into time to help him until the scientists at the project can solve the problems and retrieve the men. Doug and Tony travel to some of the most pivotal moments in history, and even occasionally into the future, as they struggle to stay alive and sometimes to thwart the efforts of villains out of time and space!

From the Mahdist War of 1883 Doug and Tony hurtle to the seaside town of Cliffport, Maine in September 10, 1978 – a full ten years in the future. They appear in a basement packed with strange scientific gear. Upstairs is a chemical laboratory. The door out of that leads to a hotel whose kindly owner has no idea she even has a cellar! The travelers show her the door to the chemical lab. When she opens it, it leads to a pantry! The travelers follow her inside and show her the door to her basement. Then she taps each man on the head, instantly paralyzing him. Seconds later she transforms into a black robed and purple skinned alien! What sort of trouble have the time traveling pair uncovered this time?

1x1: Rendezvous with Yesterday recap: A small jet roars across the sky. On board a middle aged man peruses the contents of a red folder marked with a curious logo like a stylized hourglass. The pilot speaks over the intercom, addressing the passenger as “Senator” and warning him to fasten his seatbelt because the plane will be landing soon. The senator shifts his gaze to the window but outside is nothing except unbroken badlands. The pilot apparently finds his landing spot and brings the plane in. As it taxis to a halt the passenger door opens. When the plane stops completely the senator disembarks with two cases. The plane immediately takes off leaving the senator alone. But only for a moment... read more.
