BBC America is owned by BBC Worldwide which is a subsidiary of the British Broadcasting Corporation. The network made it's debut on March 29, 1998 and is available to view on cable and satellite via subscription.

The network not only airs BBC shows but also broadcasts series from the other United Kingdom networks. BBC America has commercial breaks in it's programing unlike it's British counterpart.

The daytime schedule is made up of classic British comedy shows and lifestyle programs. Popular prime time series from Britain to have been shown on the network include Doctor Who, Footballers Wives and Life On Mars. In recent years the network has made American versions of the popular British shows like Ground Force.
