CNBC began broadcasting on April 17, 1989 and is available to view on cable and satellite. CNBC stands for Consumer News and Business Channel and the channel was known by this name until 1991. The channel is part of NBC Universal.

During the day CNBC shows a variety of programs. These programs include the latest news on the stock market and feature interviews with some of the countries leading businessmen. The channel's prime time schedules includes reruns of many of NBC's most popular shows. The channel also has it's own original talks show called The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch which features interviews with some of the countries biggest names from the world of business, sport and media.
