Order up! 'Bob's Burgers' Renewed for Fifth Season

22 more 'Bob's Burgers', pick 'em up!

Despite four seasons worth of decent at best ratings, FOX has once again opted to renew Loren Bouchard's animated brainchild. What's more, season four hasn't even premiered yet. There has long been speculation that a powerful FOX executive (:cough: Kevin Reilly :cough:) was a big fan of the show personally, and it's kind of hard to doubt that right now. Another point worth considering is that the rerun rights to 'Bob's Burgers' were sold off to Adult Swim just a few short months back, and 22 more episodes will only make that deal more lucrative in the end. Which factor is more responsible for the show's renewal? I'd say it's likely a little from column A and a little from column B. Either way, I doubt fans much care what causes them to get more episodes.

In a statement, FOX Chairman Kevin Reilly (imagine that) offered the following comments: 'Bob’s Burgers is one of those rare finds that just continues to outdo itself, creatively. The show has become a key member of our Sunday Animation Domination family, and we’re looking forward to attracting new fans with another season.”

I'm a bit dubious as to why the moderately rated 'Burgers' is deemed a "key member" of the Animation Domination programming block, yet the much more popular Seth McFarlane comedy 'American Dad' wasn't picked up for another year. Sure, TBS quickly stepped in to continue the show, but it's still a bit of a puzzling decision from a business standpoint.

The fourth season of 'Bob's Burgers' premieres tonight at 8:30/7:30c.
