Primetime Ratings, Saturday, 1/11/14 & Sunday, 1/12/14

 

 

CBS won both Saturday and Sunday in all measures.

With football back as its lead-in, '60 Minutes' predictably shot up almost three whole points to a 4.0. 'The Good Wife' rose four tenths to a season high of 1.8, slightly increasing its chances of renewal. 'The Mentalist' also earned a 1.8, rising two tenths.

The 2014 'Golden Globe Awards' posted a 6.5, its highest rating since back in 2007. If hosting duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hadn't already agreed to return for next year's ceremony, I'd expect that NBC would currently be begging them to do so.

Without football as its lead-in, 'The Simpsons' plunged down over two points to a 2.2. Football lead-ins, they're truly a cruel mistress. 'Bob's Burgers' also dropped almost a full point to a 2.0. 'Family Guy' continued the pattern, falling four tenths to a 2.7. 'American Dad' took the smallest hit, dipping to a 2.3, and managing to beat 'The Simpsons' for one of the first times I can ever recall.

ABC had the worst overall performance of the night though, with 'America's Funniest Home Videos' setting a new series low of 1.0 to kick off the downward spiral. Another 'The Bachelor' special tumbled down nearly a full point from last week's 'Countdown to Juan Pablo,' also earning a 1.0. 'Revenge' held up the best, dipping two tenths to a 1.6. 'Betrayal' garnered a 0.8, staying in its usual range.
