Primetime Ratings, Sunday, 4/13/14

CBS won Sunday night in all measures.

'60 Minutes' shot up three tenths to a 1.6, after being delayed about 10 minutes by an overrun of The Masters golf tournament. Conversely, 'The Amazing Race' dropped two tenths to a 1.8. 'The Good Wife' plunged three tenths to a 1.5. 'The Mentalist' bumped up a single tenth to a 1.6.

Over on ABC, 'America's Funniest Home Videos' dipped one tenth to a 1.3. 'Once Upon a Time' took a huge tumble, falling four tenths to a 2.0. 'Resurrection' dropped a tenth to a new series low of 2.1. Still, as series lows go, that's not a terrible one to have. 'Revenge' matched last week's 1.3.

The entire FOX Sunday line-up fell to varying degrees. 'Bob's Burgers' dipped a single tenth to a 0.8. 'American Dad' also shed one tenth, earning a 1.1. 'The Simpsons' fell two tenths to a 1.7. 'Family Guy' lost two tenths as well, posting a 2.1. 'Cosmos' finished things by falling to a new series low of 1.3.

'Dateline' returned to the off-key tune of a 0.8 for NBC, down three tenths from its last new outing. 'American Dream Builders' matched last week's series low of 0.7. 'Believe' matched last week's 1.0, while lead-out 'Crisis' rose a tenth to a 1.1. Either way, both remain likely ax fodder.

PRIMETIME PROGNOSTICATION

The five main factors I consider when making a prediction are thus:

1. Does the show win its timeslot, and how often? (CW shows are exempt from this criteria.)

2. How do the show's ratings compare to similar programs on the same network? (Self explanatory.)

3. How long has the show been on the air? (Veteran series are always more likely to get renewed.)

4. Does the show have any high-profile leads? (Never discount star power.)

5. How much does the show cost to make? (Approximately, exact TV budgets are hard to come by.)
