Thomas Cavanagh was born on October 26th, 1963 in Ottawa, Ontario. When Cavanagh was 6 he and his family moved to a small village in Ghana, they later moved back when Caganagh was in his teens and while attending Queen's University in Ontario he became interested in theater and music.
Cavanagh has been in several Broadway shows, for example Grease, A Chorus Line and Shenandoah. Cavanagh has also appeared in many commercials on Canadian TV.
In 2002 he guest starred on the tv show Scrubs as one of the main charachters brother, that character brought him back to the show for another 5 episodes later in the series. Most recently Cavanagh shot a pilot for a show named Love Monkey in which he has the lead role, but the show was cancelled only after 3 episodes due to bad ratings.
Cavanagh is married to Maureen Grise, a photo editor for Sports Illustrated and they have one daughter, Alice Ann, who was born on February 10, 2006.
