Raised in a small town in Massachusetts, Jo Dee first got into music at the age of 16 when she started her own band. When she turned 19, Jo Dee headed to Nashville, determined to make it in the music business. After a few years of struggling to make it, in 1996 she released her first single "Heads Carolina, Tails California", which hit #2 on the Billboard Music charts. Her first album was certified gold. In 1999, Jo Dee was named Billboard's most played female country artist and won several awards at the CMAs.

Recently, Jo Dee has released her 6th album, "Delicious Surprise" in April 26, 2005 and continues to release hit singles from the album.
