You Are Not It - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Christian wakes up from a dream of undergoing a lobotomy, just like Wolfe was, and watches a newscast on Judge Tanaka ruling on Wolfe's request to have his powers permanently drained. The reporter talks about how Johnny's legal team is trying to arrange a visit with Wolfe for humanitarian purposes.

Johnny and his lawyer Patrice LeGarde are at an outdoor cafe, and Johnny insists that he has a humanitarian record for standing up to powers, including going into The Shaft in protest of registration laws. She warns that they can't get in until they prove that the Drainer is physically harmful to Wolfe. Christian comes over and Patrice reminds him that Johnny has a restraining order against any LAPD officer. Johnny says that they're leaving but Christian grabs him by the arm and asks why he wants to talk to Wolfe, and wonders what he's up to. The Power says that he just wants to talk to him, and advises Christian to be careful touching him or he might lose an arm. After taking Patrice's hand, Johnny concentrates and teleports away without taking part of Christian with him. Christian sits down and orders two coffees on Johnny's tab, and then picks up the cigarette lighter his former friend left behind.

At Powers Division, officers are escorting three criminals into the new Drainer-equipped holding cell. Christian gives Deena one of the coffees as a peace offering for screwing up with her, but she points out he got her the wrong coffee. Deena then shows Christian that she's confirmed that Calista is Calista Secor from Las Vegas. Christian congratulates her and then says that he wants to talk to Wolfe and find out why Johnny was teleporting in. He insists that he just wants to bust Johnny. Deena takes Christian over to the holding cell and explains that two of the prisoners are Powerz Kidz whose powers are over their registered limit. The third is a speedster thief, Up Surge, who was caught when she tripped on her shoelaces.

Christian and Deena go to an orientation, and Kutter grumbles that all of the cops want to join Powers Division now that they have the Drainer to even the odds. Dr. Death is showing the newcomers corpses that blew apart due to Sway usage, as well as one who tried to stop a bullet when his boosted powers suddenly cut out. Back in the squad room, Deena warns Christian that Wolfe is evil, and evil always lies. Christian asks her why she asked to work with him, and Deena says that she wanted to learn how Powers think. Her partner says that he needs to know what Wolfe is thinking, and they go to Cross. Cross angrily insists that he doesn't want anyone talking to Wolfe. When Christian warns that Johnny's lawyers will get him in eventually, Cross tells them to find something to fuck Johnny up.

Retro Girl meets with Craig Sherman, and is surprised when he explains that he wants her to take on Zora as a partner. They want her to get their new client a high profile and wear one of her tighter suits, but Retro Girls refuses, pointing out that she hates the suit.

At home, Krispin sends a text to Calista asking to see her, while the news shows two members of the new Kaotic Chic movement.

Calista is in a car with Simons watching a group of Powerz Kidz when she gets Krispin's text. Simons suggests that she call him back while he runs some errands, but Calista says that Krispin has a problem with Powers. When Simons wonders if that's why she hasn't taken Sway, the girl just says that she hasn't decided yet. Simons warns that Powers are absolutely and asks for the Sway packet back, but Calista refuses to give it back and says that it's her decision. Simons jokingly says that she should be a Power given her attitude, and they watch as Zora arrives and greets her friends. They figure that they'll have to wait to get the Sway back.

Krispin leaves for school and walks past Candace before she can stop him. She gets a call from Craig, who wants to know if Zora is up to speed on their PR approach for the new Power. Candace says that things have been tough at home, but Craig tells her that Zora needs a manager that is there for her. She assures Craig that they'll be there at the press conference.

One Simons is watching Wolfe's statement and another one complains. Johnny comes in and tells the first Simons to turn it off as well, and the two Simons continue arguing. When Johnny says that his lawyers can't get him in to see Wolfe unless they can prove that the Drainer is physically harmful, Simons asks what's going on. Johnny worries that since Christian got his powers back temporarily from using Sway, it may have given him Wolfe's ability to draw out powers. Simons assures his boss that his other selves are out collecting the Sway, but warns that Calista is a liability. A Simons comes in and says that Christian and Deena are there. Johnny turns on the monitor and Christian waves a search warrant at the camera. Johnny tells Simons to deal with them, and assures him that Christian isn't going to absorb his powers before teleporting away.

Christian and Deena demand to know where Johnny is, and Simons nervously tells Christian not to touch him. Simons finally runs for it, spawning dozens of clones of himself as he gets outside. They all run into the nearby junkyard and Christian and Deena manage to catch one of them. Christian orders him to pull the others in, but the clone they've captured says that only the primary Simons can do that. Two more Simons run over and knock over the cops, and help their fellow clone escape. Christian spots one more hiding in a nearby car, drags him out, and yells that he'll shoot him if the primary Simons comes out. After a moment, the primary steps out and absorbs his clones, and Deena handcuffs him.

Candace drives to where the Powerz Kidz are out and tells Zora to get in. The young Zora gets in and complains. As Candace drives away, the Simons clone goes over to collect the Sway.

Christian and Deena take Simons to Powers Division and show him to Cross, who nods in satisfaction.

After a moment, Calista follows Simons over to the Powerz Kidz.

Simons fights being thrown into the holding cell, but they get him in and lock the door.

On the street, the Simons clone collapses, dead. Calista stares at him for a moment and then runs off, terrified.

In the holding cell, Up Surge stares at Simons as he collapses to the floor, sobbing at the death of his clone.

At PRM, a creative director for Under Armour assures Zora that she's a perfect fit for their company's image of women's strength, and presents some designs for woman's armor.. Meanwhile, Craig brings Retro Girl in and she's less than thrilled to discover that Zora is there as well. Retro Girl agrees that Zora would make a great role model and asks to talk to the girl in private. Once they're alone, Retro Girl explains that Craig is pairing them up in the hopes of boosting Zora's PR profile. The elder heroine warns Zora that she'll never master the celebrity and fame but she can use it to do something lasting. Zora insists that the media gave her credit for stopping Wolfe and she didn't want it, but Retro Girl points out that she hasn't done much to correct the situation. She asks if Zora tossed Wolfe into the cell and admits that she didn't, and Zora realizes that Christian did it. Retro Girl tells Zora that it's her moment of opportunity, and advises her to do something real with it.

At Powers Division, Christian and Deena have lunch and watch Simons. Deena wonders if the Drainer is hurting him, just as Kutter shows them a photo of the dead Simons clone.

Krispin tracks down Calista to Here and Gone and asks for five minutes with her. He insists that Chaotic Chick is just a friend, but Calista accuses Krispin of betraying her. Krispin explains that he and Chaotic Chick both lost family to Powers, but assures Calista that he really cares about her and apologizes. Calista realizes that she tagged Powers Division with another's girl name, and Krispin insists that it's all about branding. After a moment, Calista says that she's a Power but her powers haven't manifested yet. Krispin says that hopes that she's wrong, and Calista orders him out.

As they argue, Johnny teleports into his nearby safe room and hears them. He calls for Simons but gets no answer.

Krispin says that his father was killed by a Power, just as Johnny teleports out and asks if everything's all right. He recognizes Krispin and advises him to leave now, and Krispin points out that Johnny is demonstrating what he's saying. Once he leaves, Johnny asks Calista is she's okay. She tells him that Simons is dead and she ran without the Sway, and he assures her that she did the right thing. Johnny says that he's going to Powers Division but he can't take Calista with her because the cops still want her. She says that she understands and tells Johnny to go take care of his friend, and Johnny teleports away.

Dr. Death is examining the dead Simons' at the morgue, and tells Cross and Deena that he appears to be a human being. Christian finds Sway in the dead man's clothing, but Cross has confirmed that the Powerz Kidz said that Simons was taking Sway away from them. He had Calista with him, and Cross tells Christian and Deena to connect Johnny to Olympia once and for all and then bring him in. Only Deena sees Christian pocket the Sway package. Zabriski comes in and warns them that Johnny is in the building.

In the squad room, Simons tells Johnny that he can't hear himself anymore. Johnny promises to get him out, and Patrice points out that they now have proof that the Drainer is dangerous. Simons begs Johnny to get him out, but Patrice warns that having him under the Drainer is their legal edge to see Wolfe. Johnny tells Simons that he has to stay in the cell for now, but will get him out soon. Cross and the others arrive, and Johnny denounces the Drainer. Christian yells at him to stay away from Wolfe, warning him that every time that Johnny tries to change the past, he screwed up. Johnny says that they have a judge to see and teleports away with Patrice.

Krispin goes to the courthouse where people are protesting for and against Wolfe. He calls Chaotic Chick and admits that she was right, and she says that she's already there and is going to make Kaotic Chic into something special.

Johnny gets the judge to let him see Wolfe, and enters his former mentor's cell. Wolfe reminds Johnny of the many times he visited him before, and asks what Johnny did to him. Johnny explains that he created Sway and Christian thinks he used it to take his power back. What he doesn't realize is that he can take power--and life--from anyone who has used Sway. Wolfe realizes how many people that could mean, and says that Triphammer was clever to create the Drainer. But sometimes it falters, and then Wolfe senses a vast reservoir of power just beyond his reach, waiting for him. He realizes that Johnny made Sway out of him and warns that when the Drainer inevitably fails, he will soon feed on everyone that Johnny has unwittingly connected him to. Shocked, Johnny yells at the guards to let him out.

Cross tells Christian and Deena that the clone dying was the wedge Patrice needed to get Johnny in to see Wolfe. Christian insists that he has to talk to Wolfe and find out what Johnny wants from him. Cross reluctantly agrees and Christian leaves with Deena for The Shaft.

In her room, Calista looks at the packet of Sway that she held back. She braces herself and then swallows the pill, and her eyes glow red.

At the morgue, Deena is staring at the clone's corpse and gets an idea. She goes to the holding cell and offers her condolences to Simons on his loss. Deena then asks him why he was worried that Christian could take his powers. Simons ignores her, and Cancillara tells Deena that the files she wanted from family court are there. She has Cancillara compare their inventory of Sway against what they found on the clone, and brings up the files.

At The Shaft, Wolfe greets Christian and says that he's much more than just his friend. Christian warns his former mentor that Johnny isn't his friend, and Wolfe says that Johnny is more concerned about purifying him of his sins. He figures that Christian wants his powers back, and says that he wants to be free. Christian says that they'll never let him go, drained or not, and Wolfe admits that he doesn't want to be drained... and neither does Christian. Wolfe assures Christian that he really took his powers back and asks if it felt good, and asks if he wants to feel like that again. When Christian admits that he does, Wolfe says that all he has to do is switch off the Drainer.

Johnny knocks on Calista's door and asks if he can come in. Calista is lying on the bed, sick, and insists that she's a Power. Johnny assures her that she is.

At home, Christian is watching a newscast confirming that Tanaka has approved Wolfe's request to be permanently drained. The draining will take place in one week. Retro Girl calls and asks how Christian is doing. He admits that he doesn't know and Retro Girl says that she's eating ice cream in the park. Christian remembers when they ate ice cream together and is surprised that she's out in public with no one recognizing her. Retro Girl contemplates just walking away from her life as a Power, Christian says that she could never do it because of her sense of duty and her powers, and Retro Girl asks about his powers. He says that he talked to Wolfe and his former mentor played head games with him. Retro Girl asks what he wants, and Christian says that he wants to be great, and thinks that he could if he had another chance. His former girlfriend warns that sometimes there are just shitty choices and unacceptable choices, and only he knows which are which for him. Some people spot Retro Girl and start taking photos, and she says that she has to go and hangs up. Christian takes out Johnny's lighter and lights it, then turns away.

Johnny assures Calista that she's going to be okay, and promises that Wolfe isn't going to hurt anyone. Christian comes in and wonders what Johnny did to Calista, and Johnny says that she took Sway but she'll live. Furious, Christian tells his former friend not to run away again and grabs him, and Johnny teleports both of them away.

That night, Jump Striker is on patrol and hears someone call for help. She spots a mugger grabbing a woman, jumps down, and grabs him. There's a burst of electricity and as Jump Striker collapses, she realizes the two figures are mannequins. A man in a hoodie grabs Jump Striker from behind and cuts her throat, and then sprays "Kaotic Chic" on the wall and runs off.
