Born in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands Allen Kelsey Grammer, who grew up in New Jersey and then Florida had a keen interest in the works of William Shakespear. After education he went onto Broadway and performed in many shows, including Shakespear plays. His first big TV deal was when he joined the cast on "Cheers" in the third year as Dr. Frasier Crane. A character who he would go on and play for 20 years (11 of which was on the character's very own spinoff "Frasier" which began after Cheers ended). Kelsey has been nominated and has won many awards for playing Dr. Frasier Crane, including multiple nominations for playing Frasier in the Emmy's (winning three times for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy series), he is also the first person to be nominated for an Emmy playing the same character in the three different shows (as Dr. Frasier Crane in "Cheers", "Wings" and "Frasier". He also provides the voice of Sideshow Bob in "The Simpsons".
