Popularity is determined by Billboard magazine's year-end music charts. Additionally, a Billboard Century Award, Billboard's highest honor for creative achievement, is also given to one artist per year.

Hosted by Tracy Morgan (30 Rock, Saturday Night Live), the ceremony will be packing some serious star power with performers on the night to include the likes of Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars and Miguel. If that's not enough, the show will also feature a highly anticipated performance by music royalty, Prince, who is being honoured with the Billboard Icon Award.

The 2013 Billboard Music Awards, will also celebrate the ingenuity of this year's hitmakers with a new, all-genre music award, the Milestone Award, which is publicly voted. The six finalists are artists whose amazing achievements on the Billboard charts in the past year have exemplified originality and skill. Up for this award are some major players - Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, Miguel, The Band Perry and Pitbull.
