Days of our Lives

Days of our Lives

"Like sands through the hourglass so are the Days of our Lives..."

Those immortal words are spoken by the one and only Macdonald Carey (Tom Horton), who played the role from the first day until his death in 1994. It has become one of the most iconic opening scenes in television history, and has remained virtually unchanged since 1965.

This show is a daily soap opera that has recently celebrated its 50th anniversary and has aired over 12,000 episodes. Set in the fictional town of Salem from the beginning, the characters have faced several problems such as kidnapping, love triangles, presumed deaths, and several divorces and breakups.

During the 1980s, the soap opera super-couple phenomenon spread to Days, which created Bo and Hope, Steve and Kayla, and Jack and Jennifer.

Since its debut in 1965, it has played a big role in American pop culture and was even satirized on the popular sitcom, Friends.

One of My Favorite Soap OperasRating: 3 likes, 0 dislikes

I've been watching Days for as long as I can remember. When I was little, I watched it with my grandmother and have been watching it on and off ever since. Luckily, as with any soap, it's easy to miss a week or so but catch back up in a matter of episodes. Read more

Worst soap opera in the history of TelevisionRating: 0 likes, 3 dislikes

I have my reasons why I don't like this show, It's just the same thing each episode boy meets girl, boy marries girl, boy and girl have a baby, boy murders someone, I could go on and on but the list is long. If Days of our Lives was more realistic then I would probably like it because no one has as many babies in almost each episode and their is always has to have a conspiracy going on and I'm just discussed with that. If it were my choice this show would not have lasted past 1968. I don't know why so many people like this show but good for you because I don't. This show needs verity something different each episode something that you could enjoy. Read more
