This US show from PBS has been on the air since 1971. It began with a twelve-part series called The First Churchills (based on books by Sir Winston Churchill) and its mission for the thirty-five years since then has been to bring quality British productions to screens in the US. In recent years some classic productions from the American Collection have also been included.
Masterpiece Theatre has won all kinds of accolades, including thirty Primetime Emmy Awards. Many episodes of the show are now available on DVD.
