Loving Miss Hatto is written by Victoria Wood and is inspired by an article in the New York magazine. The show tells the story of a married couple who managed to pull off the greatest fraud the classical music world has known, all from their bungalow in a Hertfordshire town.

William Barrington-Coupe, known to everyone as ‘Barrie’, is working at a music publishers during the 1950's but has ambitions to become a classical music impresario. While delivering some music to an orchestra rehearsal, he becomes bowled over by a young pianist’s playingfinding his first client, wife and future in one moment. He attempts to turn Joyce into a classical music star. Things start of well but afterfate intervenes they both realise that they both lack what it takes to really make it and decide to move to Hertfordshire and live a normal life. In 2002 fate ends up intervening once again and Barrie is given the chance to revive Joyce’s career, despite Joyce being in her Seventies and suffering from cancer.
