Primetime Ratings, Sunday, 5/25/14

 

 

FOX won a quiet Memorial Day weekend Sunday in all measures.

The NASCAR Coca-Cola 600 dominated the night, as you might imagine, although the 1.6 demo it drew is down three tenths from last year's 1.9. The race also dropped slightly in total viewers, going from just over seven million to just under seven million.

NBC was the only network to air original weekly programming, with the two-hour 'American Dream Builders' finale falling to a new series low of 0.4 to start. Right about now, I bet the Peacock wishes it could take back all the time and money it wasted on this bomb. 'Builders' ratings make 'Hannibal' look like a commercial hit.

Canceled dramas 'Believe' and 'Crisis' made a not-so-triumphant return, earning matching new series lows of 0.7. Then again, they were sitting at 1.0 prior to cancellation, so it can be easily argued that they only fell this far due to getting the ax.

1. Does the show win its timeslot, and how often? (CW shows are exempt from this criteria.)

2. How do the show's ratings compare to similar programs on the same network? (Self explanatory.)

3. How long has the show been on the air? (Veteran series are always more likely to get renewed.)

4. Does the show have any high-profile leads? (Never discount star power.)

5. How much does the show cost to make? (Approximately, exact TV budgets are hard to come by.)
