'Long Island Medium' renewed by TLC

File this one under "GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT."

'Long Island Medium,' the surprise smash-hit reality series from TLC, has been renewed for yet another season, bringing the series' run to four seasons and counting.

Theresa Caputo

Love the show or hate it, no one can deny that Theresa Caputo is good at what she does. Some believe that what she does is commune with the dead. Others believe that what she does is comfort the gullible. Regardless, she's getting rich from plying a trade that damn near disappeared after Harry Houdini's famous exposing of hundreds of fraudulent mediums in the 1910s.

After three seasons of essentially doing the same thing in every episode, TLC has ordered thirty more episodes, to begin airing in March 2013. Think that's crazy? Well each episode of the current third season of 'Long Island Medium' is averaging 2.9 million viewers.

More than simply performing a medium act, Caputo's series centers on the Long Island mom and her Long Island Mediumeccentric family. In fact, most of Caputo's 'readings' on the program are the result of impromptu meetings with strangers as her family goes about their business. The children get to roll their eyes and complain that their outgoing mother "always does this," but I'm sure they can dry their eyes on all of the checks from TLC stuffing their mailbox!

The third season of 'Long Island Medium' premiered in September and can be seen on TLC.
