First looks at National Geographic's 'Killing Kennedy'

A major turning point in US history is set to be revisited with National Geographic's "Killing Kennedy." The cable network is already generating buzz for the tv movie, unveiling the first look at their stars on the set.

Rob Lowe will take on the lead role of the ill-fated president, and while I had my doubts about the actor filling JFK's shoes the production still puts those doubts to bed. As his wife, First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, "Once Upon A Time"'s Ginnifer Goodwin doesn't quite look the part but at least gets the elegance down pat.

Michelle Trachtenberg as Marina OswaldThe two hour event is based on the best-selling book by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard, and revolves around the final years leading up to the president's assassination. Michelle Trachtenberg ("Buffy") takes on the role of assassin Lee Harvey Oswald's immigrant wife Marina, acknowledging the challenge of playing one of the few living historical figures in film. "I am so excited for the challenge to portray Marina Oswald, and to do my first role speaking only in Russian," Trachtenberg said in May of her role as the widow of Oswald. "I'm the only actor playing someone who is still alive, so I want to stay as true to her as possible."

"We are thrilled to be working with Rob Lowe, Ginnifer Goodwin and Michelle Trachtenberg, three gifted artists whom have responded to this timely, authentic and entertaining material," Howard T. Owens, president of the National Geographic Channels, said in a statement. "With 'Killing Kennedy,' timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the assassination of JFK, National Geographic Channel continues to bring daring, culturally significant television events to our growing global audience."
