‘The Mentalist’ Season 6 Premiere: Red John Takes Center Stage

This is the week everyone. Most of our shows are finally returning -- and I don’t know about you, but I cannot wait! One of my favorite shows coming back to the small screen is CBS’ ‘The Mentalist’ starring Simon Baker, as Patrick Jane, and Robin Tunney, as Teresa Lisbon. Well, I was lucky enough to view the very first episode of Season 6, titled ‘The Desert Rose,’ and in my opinion, it didn’t disappoint, especially in the Red John area.

For those that don’t recall, Season 5 left us with Jane revealing his narrowed list -- seven, to be exact -- of Red John suspects (Brett Stiles, Gale Bertram, Ray Haffner, Reede Smith, Bob Kirkland, Thomas McAllister and Brett Partridge) to Lisbon. Season 6, Episode 1 picks up right where we left off: Lisbon and Jane watching a DVD of Lorelei (Emmanuelle Chriqui) reciting Jane’s exact list of Red John culprits. As some have wondered, are Red John and Jane connected? Is Red John psychic? Well, I can’t answer those questions, but I can provide some teasers to hold you over until the season premiere. Here...we...go!

-The very first case of the season involves peanuts in an interesting way.

-Jane and Lisbon find themselves in some trouble, mostly thanks to Jane, and CBI Director Gale Bertram sends the duo to the desert to investigate another case.

-We come in contact with two Red John suspects.

-One of the Red John suspects says, “I am many things to many people.” He also uses the words "calcuating" and "duplicitous" in the same speech. Hmm...ominous, no?

-Despite Jane’s objections, Lisbon secretly reaches out to [SPOILER] for help with the Red John case.

-We see a paranoid and very different side to Jane, like his scrambled egg cooking skills.

-Once again, the argument of Red John being psychic surfaces.

-Lisbon’s plan backfires in a big way (judge for yourself by watching the Season 6 promo below).

-The infamous Red John-related line, “Tiger, Tiger," may or may not be uttered by the episode's end.

-Lastly, the episode closes with one creepy and chilling moment. Hint: blood is involved.

'The Mentalist’ premieres Sunday, Sept. 29 at 10/9c on CBS.

Just as long as it's not Lisbon's blood/ Lisbon getting hurt. If Red John touches her, I swear... Ugh. I'm really super stoked for this episode. Bruno Heller is seriously my favorite showrunner.

I miss PSYCH raking THE MENTALIST over the coals. Jane uses NONE of the, cough/cough, skills he did the first season. Now they simply walk through cases no tricks of the trade. Kill it already before it torments us all with a slow meaningless death. And, I gather it has come to light what fans knew all along about LOST, no one had a CLUE how to end the show. Almighty Johnson's and Strike Back have deeper story direction that LOST.
