"Gunsmoke" Summary

Based off of a radio show aired on the CBS radio network, Gunsmoke followed the life and adventures of Marshal Matt Dillion (James Arness) and his deputy Chester Goode (Dennis Weaver) in Dodge City during the 1870s, as they strived for justice, truth, and sincerity in their small town.

After airing for 20 years, Gunsmoke became the longest running drama in television history, with two stars, James Arness and Milburn Stone, starring in all 20 seasons, and one star, Amanda Blake, starring for 19 seasons.
