The object of the game is to communicate seven words by describing them in a 30-second time limit without hearing the cuckoo (no cheating). Hosted by Dick Clark with Bill Cullen hosting the syndicated spin offs. The design of this game show was ahead of its time. It spun off The $25,000 Pyramid (1974-1979) with Bill Cullen, and in 1982-1988 with Dick Clark. The $10,000 version ended in 1976 and was replaced by the $20,000 version until 1980 when The $20,000 Pyramid was replaced with The $50,000 Pyramid until 1981, which was replaced with another $25,000 version with a spun off $100,000 Pyramid in 1985. Everything stopped in 1988. In 1991 only the $100,000 version returned with John Davidson hosting. There was several color changes and different styles of pyramids used during the series run.
