The Silver Angel - Recap

Angel Guzman Hutrado, the former luchador " Silver Angel," battled vampires to the cheers of his fans and movie audiences everywhere. Now he's a washed up ex-actor with a bad leg washing dishes in an Indian restaurant, and watching videos of his old movies during his breaks.



In Brooklyn, Vasiliy drives Nora and Eph out on the streets. In the back, Nora keeps the transformed Harrison. They release him near a vampire nest and drive off, and Harrison looks around and then goes off in a different direction. They follow him to a psychiatric hospital and kill more strigoi when they close in on him. Inside, they check the records and discover that Harrison's son Evan is in treatment there. Harrison is nesting with other strigoi, and Eph says that they'll wait until the next sundown to confirm that Harrison has infected the others.

The next day, Gus is walking the streets and stops in at an Indian restaurant. The place is all but empty, and Angel is bussing tables. The owner's daughter Aanya comes over and Gus shows them cash, and Aanya gets him a table. She offers to help him with the menu, and takes Gus' orders. Once Aanya leaves, Angel keeps watching Gus.



At the loft, Dutch approaches Abraham as he goes through his texts. She asks if Abraham knew Eldritch before the Master arrived in New York, and points out that Eldritch has a new woman with him. Dutch has confirmed that Fitzwilliam is no longer with Eldritch, and that he's now with his brother Curtis on Staten Island. Abraham admits that she may be onto something and immediately says that they're going to investigate. Abraham and Dutch take the ferry to Staten Island and see the strigoi corpses strung up on the pier.

University of Vienna – March, 1966

Eldritch and Fitzwilliam come to see Abraham unexpectedly at his university office. Abraham says that he's made an amazing discovery concerning the Lumen. After Fitzwilliam leaves, Abraham explains that he's tracked down the book to a train shipment of religious iconography. All of the items were sent to a nunnery in Berndorf in the lower Austrian Alps.



Abraham and Eldritch go to the nunnery and realize that the strigoi have already been there. There are no signs of life, and the place has been torn apart. They find a young boy, Rudyard Fonescu, hiding in a cabinet. Rudyard's ear is burned, and the boy explains that his father held his head to the stove to drive out the Devil. He knows about the book and how the Mother Superior destroyed it, but the prophecy occurred anyway.

A man screams for help in the distance, and Rudyard runs off. Abraham gives Eldritch a silver knife and goes to investigate. Eichhorst comes in and greets Eldritch by name, and says that the secrets to immortality are not there. He offers to tell him everything.

Abraham enters the catacombs and finds a dead monk. After decapitating it, he calls to Rudyard but gets no answer. A strigoi emerges from the shadow sand Abraham kills it, and Rudyard calls for help. Two strigoi are closing in on him, and Abraham kills one of them and struggles with the other. Rudyard runs and a strigoi chases him, and Abraham shoves his opponent into the sunlight and then throws his sword, killing the last strigoi.

Abraham goes to Eldritch, who says that he is going back to New York now that the Lumen is destroyed. When Abraham begs him to help remove the evil from the world, Eldritch says that there has always been evil in the world and leaves.

Now

Gus returns to his apartment in Harlem. His brother's body is still there, and his strigoi mother Guadalupe is there. She attacks Gus, who refuses to kill her. The Master speaks through her, saying that he failed and he is the future. Gus says that he isn't fighting for anybody but himself. The Master dismisses him as an ignorant coward and reminds Gus that he ferried his coffin into the city. Gus asks what he wants from him, and the Master says that Guadalupe's torment lives on with her love for her criminal son. He says that Gus only fights for himself and attacks, and Gus throws her back and walks out, closing and locking the door behind him.



Vasiliy, Eph, and Nora return to the loft and Nora advises Eph to get some sleep until sunset. He says that he's too wired, and Nora tells him to get out and do something with Zach. Eph goes to Zach's room and the boy asks where he was. The doctor explains that he dropped off Harrison and notices that Zach brought a Jeter foul ball. He suggests that they do something fun and tosses him the ball.

Vasiliy is packing explosives when he hears Faraldo giving a press conference about how she is going to take back Red Hook. She wants everyone to stay inside and let her people clear out the area, and Vasiliy calls out Nora. He says that Faraldo's plan is smart, but Nora objects to the abridgement of Constitutional rights.

Eph takes Zach to a batting facility and turn on the pitching machine. Zach misses the first few pitches, and Eph tries to coach him without success. Zach remembers how their whole family came there and ignores the pitches, and Eph realizes that he wants to leave.

Eldritch meets with the city's top businessmen at the Federal Reserve Bank, and assures them that they will reopen for business the next day. As they leave, Bolivar and his strigoi attack and quickly kill them all. Eldritch watches from his limo and then tells the driver to continue on.



Fitzwilliam meets Curtis at his fire station, and they go inside. Abraham and Dutch are there to talk, and Fitzwilliam insists that he has nothing to say to him. Dutch reminds him that he left Eldritch, and Abraham introduces himself. Fitzwilliam says that he couldn't stop Eldritch, and points out that Dutch took Eldritch's money to shut down the Internet. She admits that she made a mistake, and Curtis reminds his brother that the financial markets are in freefall now that the bankers are dead. Abraham asks Fitzwilliam about the Lumen, and Fitzwilliam says that Eldritch believed that it no longer existed. Dutch asks Fitzwilliam to work with them, and Abraham realizes that he's still loyal to Eldritch. He figures that Fitzwilliam believes that evil has already won, and insists that it hasn't. Abraham gives Fitzwilliam his card for when he changes his mind. Fitzwilliam insists that he won't take his mind but takes his card, and Abraham says that he already has.

Gus goes back to Aanya's restaurant and Angel lets him in. He admits that he didn't have anywhere else to go, Aanya's mother calls her over and then Aanya tells Gus that her mother will be serving him. He tells Aanya that she'll miss her mother when she's gone, and Aanya admits that her mother didn't want her talking to Gus. Once Aanya goes back to argue with her mother, Angel comes over and warns Gus that he's out of his league and advises him to leave. Gus tells him that he didn't do anything, and takes offense when Angel says that they don't need his "element" there. The ganger starts to move on him, and Aanya comes over and apologizes for Angel. Gus says that it's not worth it and walks out,

Angel takes garbage out to the dumpster and Gus approaches him. He realizes that Angel is the former Silver Angel, Angel de la Plata. He says that Angel was the baddest good guy that ever was. Furious, Angel tells him to leave and never come back, and goes inside.



Eph, Nora, and Vasiliy return to the psychiatric hospital and discover that the strigoi are gone. Vasiliy refuses to go looking for them but Eph insists that they don't have a chance. The exterminator goes to blow up the subway station, and tosses them the key to the truck. As Eph and Nora leave, Eph insists that their virus has to work. They find Harrison off to one side, dying, and Eph takes photos of him and then cuts open one of the spreading boils on its face. Nora tells him to release it, and Eph stabs Harrison dead. They hear more strigoi nearby and go to investigate, and find another dead creature. More strigoi appear on the roof above them and throw themselves off, and Eph realizes that the Master is making them kill themselves rather than spread the disease.



Vasiliy goes to the subway station and plants his explosive charges, He lights the fuse and starts to leave, but some officers come in. Vasiliy backs away and they follow him, and the bombs go off. They try to arrest Vasiliy and he fights back, but they soon beat him down and drag him away.

Back at the loft, Eph pours a toast and says that it's time for mass dispersal. He wants to talk to Rob Bradley in Washington, but Nora isn't convinced that the virus works. Eph goes to check on Zach and finds him sleeping. His player is running a song from Bolivar's album, and Eph turns it off and covers Zach over.

Kelly and her Feelers goes to the baseball facility and pick up Zach's scent. She picks up the baseball bat her son used and whispers that Zach is near.
