Ray Romano


Raymond Romano was born on December 21, 1957 in Queens, New York. His parents’ names are Albert and Lucie Romano. He has two brothers - Richard, who is a policeman, and Robert, who a publicist. He went to school in Queens, New York, and attended Hillcrest High School where he graduated in 1975. He went to Queens College in Flushing, New York, and was studying to be an accountant, but didn’t graduate.

Romano worked odd jobs to support himself while competing on open mike competitions at local nightclubs, honing his comedy act. He took his act on Star Search, and also got a recurring guest voice role on the show Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist. Once he performed on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, his career was on its way. He got his own television show, Everybody Loves Raymond, in 1996. The show was so successful that in 2004 he became the highest paid TV actor in history.

Romano has also had roles in several films, including Ice Age (2002), Welcome to Mooseport (2004), and the HBO documentary Making the Cut (2006).

Romano is married to Anna Scarpulla, and the couple has four children together: daughter Alexandra, twin sons Matthew and Gregory, and another son, Joseph. In his free time, he enjoys golf.

He was originally going to be an accountant.
