Ewan McGregor was born March 31, 1971 in Crieff, Scotland. By the age of 9 he already knew he wanted to be an actor. When he was 16 he joined the Perth Repertory Theatre, leaving the Morrison Academy. His parents were supportive of his choice to pursue acting. He studied drama for a year at Kirkcaldly in the town of Fife, then enrolled at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he stayed for the next three years. Just before graduation he left the school when he was offered a part in a six part TV miniseries. Not long after that he was given a role in his first movie, "Being Human." After spending time working on many small projects and guest starring on several TV shows he finally got his fame when Star Wars director George Lucas offered him the chance to play Obi-Wan Kenobi in the prequel trilogy of Star Wars. Since then Ewan has won several awards and is considered one of the best Scotish actors of our time.
