Trivia

He was born only 27 days before his "X2" co-star Bruce Davison. However, it is indicated in dialogue that their characters, General William Stryker and Senator Robert Kelly, were born over 20 years apart.

He was originally cast as the voice of the lion Aslan in "The Chronicles of Narnia" but was replaced by Liam Neeson.

Mel Gibson originally offered the role of Robert the Bruce, Sr., a relatively important supporting character in "Braveheart". However, he felt that the much smaller role, Argyle Wallace, was more interesting.

He is 5'7".

His first acting role was as an extra in numerous episodes of the cult classic British series "The Prisoner". Almost three decades later, he and Patrick McGoohan also appeared in "Braveheart" together.

His son, Alan Cox, is also an actor.

He is one of only a few actors who appeared in "The Prisoner" who is both still alive and still acting.

In 2000, he won an Emmy Award for his portrayal of Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring in the NBC television movie "Nuremberg".

Many of the characters that he plays work for the military and/or government. The most notable examples are Hermann Göring in "Nuremberg" and Colonel William Stryker in "X2".

He was married to Caroline Burt from 1968 until 1986. They have two children, Alan and Margaret.
