One of Britain's most popular sitcoms, As Time Goes By is built on a adoring and warring romantic union. The series revolves around the star-crossed Jean Pargeter (Judi Dench) and Lionel Hardcastle (Geoffrey Palmer), lovers during the Korean War who were separated when Lionel is posted to Korea during his National Service. Thirty-eight years later Lionel returns, and a chance meeting rekindles the relationship.
