Top Ten Most Shocking Moments - Recap

Anthony explains that he's seen more shocking things than anyone should see in a lifetime. Now he's going to show the viewer the ten worst moments from the last five years, and some unseen footage that even he hasn't seen before. Before they start, Anthony advises owners not to make him wait around, or badmouth their employees. He appreciates people who are direct, but advises against name-calling.

#10: Hospitality Hoarders

At the Floridian Hotel in Homestead, FL, two brothers are trying to turn around the business. They have rodent statues outside, and a banquet space filled with hotel furniture and carpet. Even worst, the brothers had an offsite storage site where they kept even more hotel furniture that they had collected.



#9: Guns Blazing

Anthony goes to the Vacationland Inn in Maine and discovers that they have a horrible security plan. The managers carry concealed weapons to protect themselves and their guests. To prove that their security is lax, Anthony breaks into the hotel at night, steals three TVs, and loads them into a truck. The next day, he calls the managers and the owners out and shows them the stolen TVs.

#8: Housekeeping Impossible

The Holbrooke Hotel in Ranch Valley, CA is run by owner Ian Garfunkel. Ian spends a lot of his time playing music in the bar rather than making sure the dust was cleaned. Anthony visits the housekeeper's office and finds it the worst that he's ever seen. There are cigarette butts on the carpet and dozens of empty coffee cups. The room stinks of old coffee and mildew, and the housekeeping director Rena says that she just gets used to it.



#7: Bar Blues Breakdown

Anthony visits the Casa Verde Hotel in Puerto Rico and discovers that they have a late-night bar filled with hard-partying locals. The owner, Billy, is an alcoholic and under stress running the bar. He breaks into tears telling Anthony that he doesn't want to do it anymore, and Anthony asks if Billy can maintain his sobriety if they keep the bar. A year later, Anthony came back and confirmed that the hotel is doing much better.

#6: Boulevard of Broken Dreams

Anthony goes to the Hollywood Liberty Hotel and discovers that they really need his help. The air conditioning filters are covered in filth, and a cameraman found drug needles in a drawer. Anthony confronts the owner, Lida, and shows her the needle. He makes her touch it, and Lida doesn't seem to realize how serious it is. Anthony says that it's a zero-star hotel and walks out.



#5: Crappy Attitude

At the Crookston Inn in Minnesota, Anthony enjoys the drive but finds the housekeeping manager Rachael interviewing an applicant on the pool deck. Anthony introduces himself and then steps away. Afterward, Rachael says that she typically looks pissed off and doesn't plan to change for anyone. She doesn't care who Anthony is or why he is there, and tells him to stay out of her way so she can clean.

When Anthony inspects a room, he finds fecal matter on the bathroom tiles. He shows it to Rachael, who cleans it with her bare hands. Rachael says that the housekeepers didn't do their job, and that she's had worse things on her hands.

Top Ten Extras

Anthony presents unseen footage of the Woodstock Lodge that he hasn't seen. Designer Leslie Segrete finds a long-dead mouse on a stick in the restaurant as she remodels, and they figure that it's been there since the 1960s. He then runs footage of the Ocean Manor Resort where he found a housekeeper folding towels using her mouth. At the Catskill Mountain Lodge, he was served by a waiter who had a cold and wiped his nose with his hands. While inspecting a room at the CitiGarden Hotel, Anthony found a used condom behind the headboard.

#4: Alarming Situation

At the Gadsden Hotel , Anthony admires the lobby but discovers that the fire-safety systems are lacking. The owner confirms that the fire alarm doesn't work and has never worked since she's been there. Checking the alarm box, Anthon discovers that the alarm is switched off. He switches it on and the alarm goes off. In 25 years, the owner had never turned on the alarms. There are no certified fire extinguishers or working fire lights, and Anthony storms off.



#3: Drapes of Wrath

Anthony goes to the Carnival Inn at Myrtle Beach, SC and finds a run-down building with a missing sign. The family owners don't know the first thing about the hospitality business, and the rooms were falling apart. When they remodel, they discover that the drapes aren't fireproofed. To make his point, Anthony takes the drapes out into the parking lot and calls in the fire department. He then sets the drapes on fire for the benefit of the owners,

#2: A Vial Entrance

The 12-room Abacrombie Inn is in the center of Baltimore, near the symphony hall. Anthony pulls up and finds broken-down furniture and thick levels of dust. Worst of all, he finds crack vials in the parking lot in plain view of anyone there.



Bonus Scenes: Most Shocking Bed Discoveries

The Casa Verde Inn has nails stuck in the mattress., and the Curve Hotel has a live caterpillar in the bed. At the High Meadows Inn, Anthony finds a large condom in the bed.

#1: Bear Necessities

After recapping the most shocking moments, Anthony reveals the #1 shocking moment: the Glacier Bear Lodge. He walks in and finds stuffed animals in the lobby. The rooms are permeated with the smell of dead fish because they have nowhere for the fishermen to hang their clothing. As Anthony walks through the parking lot, he spots a wild bear, 20' from the guest room. An employee comes over with a revolver and admits that he doesn't have the safety on. Anthony takes the gun and figures that they don't have to shoot the bear.
