Royal Pains

USA is getting really good at this...Rating: 4 likes, 2 dislikes
Is it me or are all of the really good, new, unpretentious shows originating from USA? They have Monk, Psych, Burn Notice, In Plain Sight and now Royal Pains. Yes USA is also responsible for To Love & Die (Don't worry if you've never heard of it) and Dr. Steve-O, but even a diamond can have flaws.

This show isn't as great as Monk, but it is fun, funny, the acting is great and the stories have just enough drama to keep you interested, but not overwhelmed. Just like winning series above, the hero always comes out on top and you come away from an episode feeling satisfied.

The concept might seem simple: 'Robin hood' of medicine taking from the rich while helping the poor, but it does have a bitter undertone, criticizing the failures of the bureaucratic health care system, just enough bite to keep the series from being complete fluff. The acting is great, the characters are believable and likable, and 'Hank' is a sweet combination of phenom doctor and modest guy next door.

Royal Pains will probably never be as great a series as soon-to-end Monk, but it is still a watchable series, very entertaining with characters you can't help but like. Easily another winner for USA.
