Whale Wars

Captain Paul Watson founded his Sea Shepherd Conservation Society in 1977 because he believed his new organization had to go even further to eradicate whaling, poaching, shark finning and habitat destruction — and to uphold international conservation laws on the high seas — than the Greenpeace group he had co-founded.

For several years, Watson's group of staff and volunteers have engaged in a campaign almost every winter to find and stop Japanese ships that hunt whales in the name of research, attempting to stop them by any non-violent means necessary. The eclectic group — labeled activists, heroes and/or eco-pirates — leave port in Melbourne, Australia for a two-month campaign that is dangerous, controversial and has garnered international media attention. Sea Shepherd's dedicated, international crew have spent their holiday the last several years and risked their lives at the bottom of the Earth to save whales. (Source: Animal Planet)

Although I do agree with what the wale activists are tring to do. I do STRONGLY feel that what they are doing is wrong as well. Not only are they attacking another vesel by throwing objects onto their vesel, and delebertly trying to cause damage to the whaling vesel by trying to damage their engine propellar with their [Prop Fauler] They are invading another persons property by going abored their vesel without permisssion. I grew up on the water, and I can tell you what would happen to ANY NON-Governmentle person or agentcy that would try any such thing to my vesel. It would be concidered a act of agression, and delt with in a quick and fast resolution that I promise you that would make the headline news everywhere. Good luck whale activist You will need it, if you persist in your lawles antics of your view of justice. ALLEN Read more

Whale hunting has already become shunned by the majority of the world and despite what Sea Shepherd may argue whale populations have been steadily growing for years. Sea Shepherd's actions are completely hypocritical in that they have chosen a select group of animals for which they have declared themselves protectors when billions of cows, chickens, pigs, and other animals are slaughtered each year. If they were really simply concerned with the suffering of animals they wouldn't have to travel to the Antarctic to make a difference. Read more
