I am a New follower of the doctor who series, so I've only seen the new series and a handful of movies. (Which by the way, I was spoiled for. The older movies are just not as upbeat and adventurous as the new series.) I have watched the new series from day one. It screamed adventure, fun, and enthusiasm. Christoper Eccleston portrayed the doctor as fun loving, in touch with the universe and enjoying life. I cried when he regenerated. David Tenant was then introduced as the tenth doctor. He is a wonderful actor but not in the same charismatically exciting, energetic way. He portrays the darker side of the doctor, which doesn't enter onto the scenes as often, in a much better way. The tenth doctor is a more emotional doctor. Which in turn, takes the show to a whole new level without the producers just ending the show when they had problems with Eccleston. It's able to let the writers take it to a new level without making the same fatal mistakes as other shows have done. The graphics in the new series are just as technologically advanced as anything you would see in Star Trek or Farscape. They still hold the simplicity factor that allows even the most skeptic of people to believe at least a fraction of it. I do think that the shows producers need to hold on the cast just a bit longer. Into the third season and the two main characters have already changed. You just start getting used to a character and then they are gone. This in itself is it's biggest flaw. I have heard rumors that Capt. Jack will be back, but there is the third character you fall in love with and lose. Unfortunately, the show doesn't seem to move around England very well. I have wondered why the aliens always go for London. I Think there are other major cities the aliens would attack as well. Washington, DC, USA, Paris, France, Rome, Italy, or even Mexico City, Mexico. Aliens aren't going to attack just one city or country. But i understand that budgets and low filming costs cause the lack of scenery. It does transfer you to a different plain of thought and emotion. Wherein, you imagine things that you might not have on you're own. This is where the writers wanted to you enter when the show started in the 1960's and which is where Davies still wants you to travel. And if we are honest to ourselves, we wish to travel there as well. I am anxiously awaiting the new season to begin. Read more

wow. just.... wow. I didn't expect this show to be this good, because I am not a fan of "futuristic" and "spaceship" and "alien" science fictions. but this show really got me. Read more

Recaps
9x0: The Husbands of River Song recap: On the human colony Mendorax Dellora, on Christmas Day 5343, a man named Nardole follows a set of instructions and knocks at the door of the TARDIS, parked in the street. The Doctor opens the door and is less than thrilled when Nardole points out that he’s wearing a pair of fake antlers. Once the Doctor complains to the TARDIS, Nardole asks if the Doctor is a surgeon. Once the Doctor says that it’s close enough, Nardole says that there’s a medical emergency. As the Doctor goes off with Nardole, Nardole says that there is a medical emergency and wonders if the Doctor read the agreement... read more.

9x12: Hell Bent recap: The Doctor drives a truck up to a diner in Jackson, Nevada, and goes inside, carrying his guitar. The Waitress--who looks like Clara--greets him and he offers to pay. The Doctor wonders how she got there, and the Waitress says that maybe she caught a plane. He starts playing and says that it’s a sad song once it’s done, and it’s called “Clara.” The Waitress asks him to tell her about the woman... read more.

9x11: Heaven Sent recap: The Doctor materializes inside a vast castle, seconds after someone pulls a lever and their body disintegrates into dust. Stepping out, the Doctor remembers watching Clara die. There is sand on the floor, and as the Doctor studies it he warns his captors that he will never stop if they had any part in killing Clara. He steps out and looks out the window, and sees nothing but a grey landscape and grey clouds. Judging by the teleportation equipment, the Doctor concludes that he is no more than a light-year from where he was and in the same time zone. He warns his unseen captors that he doesn't always listen and Clara told him not to take revenge... read more.

9x10: Face the Raven recap: The Doctor and Clara return to the TARDIS after another exciting adventure, and Clara boasts that she saved the Doctor yet again. As they argue, a phone on the console rings. They both stare at it for a moment, and the Doctor finally gestures to Clara to answer it. Clara does, and Rigsy from 21st century London identifies himself. He says that he has a tattoo of a number and it's an emergency, and asks her to come take a look at it. When Clara says that they can't help him reverse getting a tattoo, Rigsy explains that he didn't get a tattoo... and that it's counting down to zero. Clara says that they'll be right there... read more.

9x9: Sleep No More recap: Professor Gagan Rasmussen sends a video warning the viewer that they must not watch what follows. He comes on camera and warns that the viewer can never unsee what they will see if they watch. Rasmussen explains that he's aboard the Le Verrier Space Station in orbit above Neptune. Something growls in the distance, and Rasmussen says that he's put the recorded events into some kind of order so that the viewer can understand. He apologizes for the bits that are missing and admits that he doesn't fully understand what is going on, but the video shows what happened... read more.
