TV
VH1 was launched on January 1985 and is owned by Warner Communications and is a sister station of MTV. At the time of its arrival, MTV had been a favorite of teenagers. VH1 was built for the 18 to 35 sect. As with its sister station, VH1's schedule consisted of music videos and news. Also, as with MTV the programming format changed over the years from music videos to first run reality shows and documentaries. VH1 also created Behind The Music, a show which looked into the history of some of the most famous and infamous musical acts of all time. They have also made some series featuring a look back at the pop culture of the 1970's and 1980's with their I Love the... shows. VH1 has also honored music history with the VH1 Hip Hop Honors and Rock Honors shows. Although recent history has shown a decrease of music related programming on the channel, VH1 does relegate the 3 AM - 10 AM slot for music only. VH1 also has a number of spin-off channels such as VH1 Soul and VH1 Classic.
