Doc Martin Series 6: Will the Doctor and Louisa Finally Get Married?

If you're a fan of British television, chances are you've discovered the quirky little ITV series Doc Martin. The series, which stars Martin Clunes, focuses on the titular, curmudgeonly, big-city doctor, who serves as the General Practitioner of the small fishing village Portwenn. He hates it there, and only finds a few people even tolerable -- his aunt, and schoolteacher Louisa Glasson (Caroline Catz), with whom he has been in an on-and-off relationship since the beginning of the series. The two had a child in the show's fourth series, and the recently aired fifth season saw the two struggling to adapt to living together with the baby. It's a funny, clever little show that feels quintessentially British, and is a must-watch for Anglophiles.

One of the bad things about the show, though, is the long hiatus between seasons. Nearly two years passed between series 3 and 4, with a similar gulf occurring between series 4 and 5. Series 6 isn't slated to premiere until late 2013, meaning that we have a long way to wait before we get to see any more of Portwenn.

To build a little bit of anticipation for the new series, star Martin Clunes shared a bit of a teaser in a recent interview with the Radio Times. "[We start filming] next year and I can't wait to go back there," Clunes shared. "[Series 6] will be interesting because Louisa and the doctor are finally going to marry, I think. But I don't want to give too much away!"

Doc Martin will return for its sixth series in late 2013.

All your remarks are stupid and I can only say SHUT UP!  I am in the USA and I am here to tell you we love Doc Martin.  My only problem is how I am going to watch season 6.  Its not available yet and I am missing it! Chris in South Carolina

The situation for Louisa and Doc Martin is hopeless. I don't believe they'll ever so much as enter a church ever again. There may not even be another series.

Doc Martin never shows on Encore Westerns. I've seen the whole series of Doc Martin. It's a shame. This is my favorite western...right up there with Roy Rogers and Gene Autry...Doc Martin. He's a rugged horse and buggy style medical doctor. He keeps a shotgun in a cabinet in his surgery. He wears and carries leather. He has a John Wayne countenance. The Doc takes on the bad guys without much trouble. He's almost like the town Sheriff.

It's kinda hard to follow this short t.v. miniseries. It's about a fishing village or something. I think it's main characters are Bob the Fishmarketer, Buddy the dog and Some pall bearer trying to build a six pack. But also, there is this persistent character who roams the village aimlessly with his leather bag among other background characters like the school headmaster and the restauranteurs. But all in all it's cute.

Yea, a bit too windy for a western.

Now I like westerns as much as anybody, but Doc Martin is not my favorite western. It lacks that something that's hard to put your finger on.

Possibly my all time favorite western is Doc Martin. Though, it has a curious absence of convincing dramatic displays of affection. There's no horse trading or John Wayne type immatation. People don't seem to mind being isolated there. The sheriff doesn't wear a badge. They are all the same. Always glad you came. Everybody knows your name.
