Review: New Girl season 2 episode 4

On episode 4 of “New Girl’s” second season, Jess and Schmidt meet some hipster-type youths who dislike the erstwhile Tagg Romney, which produces mostly funny results.

When they first met the youngsters Jess took credit for her Urkel impression as her own creation.

Meanwhile, Schmidt unveiled his actuarial table and growth chart to the roommates. He said he was the Jewish Peter Pan, and would keep growing forever, which was funny

Schmidt thought the youths didn’t like him because he’s old, but was relieved to learn it was actually his personality. “I am an asshead!” Schmidt triumphantly proclaimed.

Nick apparently has spent plenty of time and money pranking Schmidt. He has also embraced his old man persona.

I didn’t really care for Winston’s sub-plot of getting a better job because the chart told him he only has three-and-a-half years to live. They don’t usually give Lamorne Morris much to work with, though him shouting “I’m gonna hit your ass with a ski!” complete with a ski cracked me up.

The episode ended with Jess going out to try to get a tutoring job. There was no advancement on the Nick and Jess inevitable romance tonight, though Jess told him to never prank her and he told her “of course,” while whispering “you’ll never see it coming.” Stay tuned, kids…
