TVRage Bulletin: Ringo Starr Sings for ‘Powerpuff Girls,’ ‘Songbyrd’ Finds Leading Man & More!

In addition to all of the other news we’ve been reporting, here are a few entertainment and TV headlines you might have missed:

-Here’s some good news for fans of Cartoon Network’s ‘The Powerpuff Girls.’ The cartoon is returning for a one-night special, and former Beatles drummer/singer Ringo Starr is not only starring in the episode, but he’s also recorded a song. Click here, thanks to TV Guide Magazine, for a listen.

-E!’s new music-themed pilot ‘Songbyrd’ has found its leading man in actor Wes Brown, who’s known for starring in NBC’s ‘Deception.’ Brown is set to play Justin, the “sexy, soulful love interest” to Bethany Joy Lenz’s Lauren Byrd. In even more casting news, Broadway star Rory O’Malley (he was a member of the original ‘The Book of Mormon’ cast) has scored a role alongside Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence in the FX series ‘Braddock & Jackson.’

-FX Networks has released its new animated comedy series ‘Chozen’ early, before its Jan. 13 debut. The premiere episode is currently available on Xbox One. The series focuses on an ex-con, who is also a gay white rapper attempting to find his place as “the world’s top rap artist.”

-FOX and CBS have added two talented men to their networks. First, Jack Cutmore-Scott will appear in FOX’s untitled comedy pilot executive produced by Tina Fey. He’ll star alongside Bonnie Dennison as the wealthy Charlie Deckard. As for CBS, the network has brought on Jimmy Dunn for ‘The McCarthys,’ which also stars Laurie Metcalf, Jack McGee and Joey McIntyre.
