Nathan Fillion


Nathan was born March 27th 1971, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Both of his parents are teachers and he intended to become a teacher as well before choosing to pursue an acting career. In Canada, Nathan performed in several stage productions and appeared on television shows.

His acting debut in the United States was in the made for TV film entitled Ordeal in the Arctic. After that, he garnered the role of Joey Buchanan on One Life to Live. He remained on One Life to Live for 3 years and was nominated for an Emmy for his performance as Joey.

Nathan moved to Los Angeles, California in 1996 and has appeared in numerous television shows and films since that time. He is most well known for his role as Captain Malcolm Reynolds on the Joss Whedon television series, Firefly. The series was cancelled after airing only 11 of the 13 filmed episodes, but Nathan reprised the role of Mal in the film, Serenity, in 2005.

Nathan is currently starring in the show Castle on ABC.

Nathan is one of three actors to cross over and play a Big Bad on either Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Angel after Firefly was cancelled. He played Caleb, the evil preacher, in Season 7 of Buffy the vampire Slayer.

In 1996, Nathan was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Young Actor.

Nathan is the voice for Gao the Lesser in the video game Jade Empire.
